Cable & Wireless Optus today signed a facilities access agreement with One.Tel Limited. Gerard Frack, Cable & Wireless Optus Director, Industry Services, said the agreement would allow One.Tel to place their 1800 band GSM equipment on Optus base stations.

"This agreement demonstrates Optus' willingness to work with the industry to ensure all carriers have access to the right facilities without unnecessary duplication of infrastructure. It also again demonstrates the ongoing strong relationship with One.Tel," Mr Frack said.

Under the terms of the agreement One.Tel will be required to seek the appropriate regulatory/council approvals for installations. Optus will carry out feasibility work and perform any 'make ready' work including tasks such as power connection.
