Cable & Wireless Optus is powering-up for a pre-paid Christmas by launching a range of new deals for its Optus Express mobile customers.
Paul O'Sullivan, Managing Director Mobile, Cable & Wireless Optus said Optus is aggressively targeting pre-paid customers with new rate plans, half priced SMS on weekends and top-name handsets.
"We're focusing on stimulating usage and rewarding our high-value customers with innovative offers," he said.
"We have simplified pre-paid call rates while extending the call credit validity period to six months. Our pre-paid customers now get to choose the best rate plan based on when they want to make the most calls - during the day or during the night.
"Plus they still get the first 20 minutes of calls free during 'Express Time' every night between 7.00pm to midnight, when they call other Express customers.
"In addition, because SMS is hugely popular with pre-paid customers we are also going to give them half price SMS on weekends until 31 January 2001," Mr O'Sullivan said.
Optus is also going to reward pre-paid customers who purchase a handset package between now and the end of February next year with a bonus 50 per cent call credit when they buy a new recharge card before 28 February 2001.
"So if you buy a $50 recharge card, we'll give you a bonus $25 worth of calls," said Mr O'Sullivan.
Optus will introduce a range of top-name mobile handsets to its pre-paid packs including the Nokia 5110e, the Motorola v.2288 and the Motorola T300.
