Optus rolls-over for mobile phone customers
16 Nov 2000

Cable & Wireless Optus today raised the stakes in the battle for mobile subscribers, launching aggressive new offers to contract customers just in time for Christmas.

In another first, Optus will be the only mobile carrier in Australia to allow contract customers to 'rollover' the included free call component of their mobile plans for a total of three months.

Paul O'Sullivan, Managing Director Mobile, Cable & Wireless Optus said that 'yes' Rollover is a real win for consumers as they won't lose their unused included calls at the end of the month.

"With other carriers if you don't use them, you lose them at the end of the month. At Optus you get three months to use your included calls," he said.

"We recognised that customers will have different call patterns at different times. So if you get $55 of included calls every month, go on holidays and only make $10 worth of calls in one month - you won't be penalised.

"At Optus, we are going to let you rollover your unused $45 worth of calls for another month - and then do it again the following month."

"Unlike our competitors, we give our customers the lot. All our customers have the opportunity to take advantage of 'yes' Time, 'yes' Weekend, 'yes' International and now 'yes' Rollover," he said.

Mr O'Sullivan said that Optus would continue to be the 'challenger' brand in the Australian mobile market by changing the way things are done with innovative offers bringing real value to consumers.
