In a coup for convenience, Cable & Wireless Optus today announced its customers would soon be able to recharge their Express Pre-Paid Mobile and Phone cards at Westpac ATMs.
"Fast, easy and convenient, this service will help our customers replenish their call credits on their mobile and phone cards at anytime of day through Westpac ATMs," said Paul O'Sullivan, Managing Director, Mobile, Cable & Wireless Optus.
"This will be the first time in Australia that an ATM machine will dispense anything apart from cash and is yet another example of Optus leading the way with innovative deals for our customers," he said.
Optus customers will be able to purchase Express Pre-Paid Mobile or Pre-Paid Phone vouchers by debiting the cheque or savings account linked to their Westpac ATM card.
The Express Pre-Paid Mobile vouchers will be available in three denominations, $30, $50 or $100. The Pre-Paid Phone vouchers will be available in $10, $20 or $50 denominations.
Once purchased the customer will receive two receipts, one to confirm the funds transfer and the other confirming the voucher number. It is then a simple matter for the customer to recharge their mobile phone account by transferring the value through the standard call credit recharge process.
Westpac will not charge their customers any bank fees to use this service. The service, which is due to begin in August this year, will also be available from Bank of Melbourne and Challenge Bank ATMs.
