Cable & Wireless Optus today said it would move quickly to take advantage of the new global alliance between German based software house SAP and US based business to business e-commerce specialist, Commerce One to deliver integrated B2B solutions to its customers.
"As the exclusive license holder of Commerce One's MarketSite in Australia and New Zealand, Optus is in an ideal position to capitalise on the benefits of this new relationship and pass them on to our customers," said Mr David Stokes-McKeon, Director E-Solutions, Cable & Wireless Optus.
Commerce One and SAP have entered into a global agreement to jointly deliver the next generation e-business marketplace solution for the internet economy. The joint solution will specifically combine Commerce One' MarketSite Portal Solution with industry leading mySAP.com e-business applications.
"This means that all companies running supported SAP enterprise software will be able to connect to this new marketplace suite without upgrading their internal systems," Mr Stokes-McKeon said.
"For too long businesses have had to struggle to integrate their current accounting, ERP and CRM software with the online global trading environment. This deal effectively removes these barriers."
"We see this as a great opportunity to simplify the way Australian businesses can buy and sell their goods online - globally. We look forward to being able to offer our customers the best elements of this international deal in the near future," he said.
Cable & Wireless Optus launched Australia's first internationally recognised B2B e-commerce platform CWO MarketSite and Enterprise Buysite earlier this year.
CWO MarketSite.net.au is an electronic marketplace allowing business to trade online in real time. The portal links multiple buyers to suppliers, contains supplier catalogues and processes transactions.
Enterprise BuySite is an e-procurement solution providing large businesses with electronic purchasing capability directly to the desktops of employees. It automates the procurement process including requisitions, approvals, purchase order creation and ordering.
