Optus offers no risk switch for MNP
23 Sep 2001

Optus has landed another punch for mobile phone users in the lead-up to Mobile Number Portability (MNP) with a No Risk Switch offer for people wishing to switch mobile carriers.

In addition to not charging porting fees for changing carriers, retail customers swapping to Optus and taking-up a mobile phone contract will have 10 days to make sure they are happy with their decision.

Paul Kitchen, Director Consumer Marketing for Optus Mobile said that customers will be able to have a few days to decide if the Optus offers really stack-up against their experience.

"If you're not convinced within 10 days of switching to Optus that it's a change for the better, you're free to leave us without any contract cancellation penalties," Mr Kitchen said.

"This is a no risk switch."

"With MNP, we believe mobile savvy consumers are looking for the best overall value which includes choice, good rate plans, great coverage and excellent customer service," he said.

"As a result, we are saying to our new customers don't just take our word for it - experience the Optus difference," he said.

Mr Kitchen believes small to medium business customers will be particularly attracted to this deal as it gives them an additional level of security when considering whether to change carriers.

"The mobile phone is a very important tool for business customers. So when they consider changing carriers it is important that they get this decision right. Now they can opt for Optus with confidence."

The No Risk Switch offer is available to new business and residential GSM customers taking-up a retail plan including, Rollover plans, Tailored plans, Business Plus plans or Bring Your Own plans.

Should a customer choose not to stay with Optus, they will have to pay for any calls they have made plus the portion of their monthly access fee they have used, and if appropriate return the handset and SIM card. However, they will not be charged any contract cancellation fees or a porting-out fee.

To find out more and review the full terms and conditions go to our website or visit any Optus World store. The offer ends 31 December 2001.
