Optus Mobile is cutting through the rate plan clutter and giving its new mobile customers cheaper calls to any mobile on any network or any fixed line as part of its new 'Your Call' plans announced today.
Paul Kitchin, Director Marketing for Optus Mobile, said the new 'Your Call' plans feature another industry first for Optus with a new value offer called 'yes' Any Phone.
"With 'yes' Any Phone, our customers can make a call to any mobile on any Australian network or any landline in Australia and it will only cost 30 cents for the first 10 minutes per call, between 8pm-7am, every day," Mr Kitchin said.
"We are cutting through the confusion of the vast array of offers in the market. It doesn't matter who you call on your mobile - a fixed line or a mobile, or if they are with Optus or not - it's just one simple rate.
"You get 10 minutes talk time anywhere in Australia for a little bit more than the price of an SMS.
"In the tradition of 'yes' Time and 'yes' Rollover, Optus continues to lead the way by challenging competitors to provide innovative and valuable offers to Australian mobile consumers.
Mr Kitchin said the new 'Your Call' plans were designed to meet customer demands for simplicity and value.
"Our customers said they want two things - 'make plans simpler to understand' and 'let me choose how I can get better overall value'.
"As a result we have introduced flat call rates, based on the customer's monthly access commitment, across all our new 'Your Call' plans - regardless of whether the customer connects to a Bring Your Own (BYO) mobile, 12 or 24 month plan.
"Simple and easy to understand, we are providing the same highly competitive rates to everyone," he said.
For those customers who prefer to bring their own handset, Optus has introduced a new month-to-month BYO service with no fixed contracts and no cancellation fees.
In addition, consumers who want a new handset will benefit from Optus continuing to offer '0' dollar handsets on 12 and 24 month contracts.
"We're saying to our customers - it's your call. We are taking away the confusion with mobile plans and offering real choices."
The new plans will be available to all new Optus customers from 15 April 2002. Current Optus customers may remain on existing plans or can choose to move to the new 'Your Call' plans.
