Camera House sells Optus mobile in exclusive deal
17 Nov 2003

Camera House, the specialist camera retail group, will begin selling Optus Pre-Paid camera phones from Christmas.

Under an exclusive arrangement, Camera House will sell Optus Pre-Paid Mobile MMS (multi media messaging) mobile handsets in stores nationally.

Allen Lew, Managing Director, Optus Mobile said the partnership provided unique retail opportunities for both companies.

"Convergence between the camera and the mobile phone has created a new consumer product that lends itself to a specialised retail approach.

"Optus will sell initially only its Pre-Paid MMS mobile phone range and recharge cards through Camera House," Mr Lew said.

Camera House CEO, John Maclay said he was delighted to be entering a partnership with Optus.

"Camera House is about helping customers understand camera technology. Now that mobile phones are tiny cameras it is appropriate for us to align with Optus and offer our specialised knowledge.

"The relationship gives Camera House access to a younger customer and enables us to introduce our customers to the fun of photography via new technology.

"We will initially sell the Siemens MC60 camera phone which we expect to be very popular this Christmas," Mr Maclay said.

The Siemens MC60 handset retails for $299 with $10 included calls on Optus' Pre-Paid offer.
