Optus has continued to improve mobile coverage along the Calder Highway between Inglewood and Charlton with a new mobile base station at Wedderburn as part of its $90 million investment in Victoria.
Rob Parcell, Director Victoria, said Optus was focused on enhancing and extending mobile coverage along the important route.
"Optus has heeded the call to improve mobile coverage along the Calder Highway.
"The Wedderburn base station enhances coverage from Optus' existing site at Inglewood and a planned site at Charlton. Additionally, Optus plans to build another site at Wycheproof to complete coverage from Bendigo to Mildura along the Calder Highway. "Optus customers will enjoy better quality mobile coverage in the region as a result of the recent investment. And customers driving in the area should always use a car kit for safety and to maximise in vehicle coverage," Mr Parcell said.
Mobile base stations have also recently been installed in Bagshot North, Mt Franklin, Daylesford and Axedale.
"Optus is bringing real competition to regional Victoria offering some mobile customers a choice of GSM network for the first time.
"We are confident mobile users will enjoy great coverage from our GSM sites and we offer a 14 day Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee to back up this confidence," Mr Parcell said.
