Optus improves mobile coverage on the Mornington Peninsula
15 Oct 2003

Optus has improved mobile coverage in the south Mornington Peninsula area following the installation of two new mobile base stations.

Rob Parcell, Director Victoria, said Optus had focused on enhancing and extending mobile coverage in the Mornington Peninsula over the past year.

"Mobile base stations have been installed in Tootgarook and Cape Schanck extending coverage to the popular tourist areas and improving highway coverage on the Point Nepean Road, the Mornington Peninsula Freeway extension and Boneo Road between Rosebud and Flinders," Mr Parcell said.

The two new sites complement base stations recently built in the area at Sorrento South and Blairgowrie South. Over the last 12 months, Optus has built other sites at Shoreham and Balnarring.

"Optus is bringing real competition to regional Victoria offering some mobile customers a choice of GSM network for the first time.

"We are confident mobile users will enjoy great coverage from our GSM sites and we offer a 14 day Coverage Satisfaction Guarantee to back up this confidence," Mr Parcell said.
