Optus today announced further extensions to its GSM network coverage in regional Queensland with the installation of a mobile site in the township of Mundubbera.
Allen Lew, Managing Director Optus Mobile said, "The installation of the mobile site has improved and extended mobile coverage throughout the Mundubbera township, providing greater access for people working and living anywhere, anytime.
"Optus is continuing to boost network coverage in regional Queensland with the enhancement of coverage across a number of regional areas including Binjour, Mount Benn, Theodore and Monto. "Optus remains confident that GSM is still strong in the bush and we will continue to invest in additional sites," he said.
Mark Williamson, Optus General Manager, QLD said, "The new mobile site in Mundubbera complements Optus' plans to extend coverage to surrounding areas such as the Moura township, Taroom and Wandoan in coming months, extending the GSM network coverage across the state." This coverage expansion is part of the Optus strategy to provide the largest number of GSM base sites on the east coast of Australia.
