Optus announced today a further enhancement to its network coverage in New South Wales (NSW) with the installation of a new mobile facility at Bathurst West.
The facility will enhance Optus GSM network coverage in Bathurst West and the surrounding area including Windradyne.
Warren Hardy, Managing Director Optus Consumer said, "This expansion demonstrates Optus' commitment to providing the highest quality of GSM coverage in regional Australia.
"Year on year there has been tremendous growth in support for the Bathurst 1000 event. Optus has worked to consistently upgrade the mobile coverage at Mount Panorama to cater for the popularity of this unique event.
"The new facility at Bathurst West increases the breadth of coverage for the residents in Bathurst and visitors to the area and provides local residents with a real alternative to other carriers.
"Also at this years Bathurst 1000, Optus customers with a compatible handset will see such phrases as 'V8sRockMtn' and 'V8s Shake' on their mobile screen. Additionally, as a tribute to the Late Peter Brock, Optus customers will see 'Brocky Mtn' on their mobile phone screen when visiting the Mt Panorama site," Mr Hardy said.
To date, Optus has invested more than $536 million to roll out 1,534 mobile base stations across NSW, providing network coverage to 97 per cent of the state's population.
