Telco awards say 'yes' to Optus

Optus was awarded the 'Best Advertising Campaign' for 2007 at the national Australian Telecommunications Awards held at the Marriot Hotel in Sydney last night.

Optus received the accolade for its highly successful 'we hear you' marketing campaign launched in July 2007. The campaign demonstrates Optus' commitment to listening and delivering products and services that serve the needs of customers.

The campaign, created in conjunction with advertising agency M & C Saatchi, utilised cutting edge Computer Generated Images (CGI) introducing six new animal characters called 'The O Team' along with the launch of the 'wehearyou.com.au' website. The website enables customers to provide direct feedback on what services they want and need from Optus.

This is the second successive year that Optus has received this industry award.

Elaine McGrath, Optus Group Marketing Communications Manager said the campaign received a positive reaction from the public but just as importantly was helping to drive strong business results.

"Optus is well known for its innovative advertising but more important for us is to genuinely connect with our customers. The 'we hear you' campaign demonstrates our commitment to building better relationships with our customers by making sure we listen to and understand their issues and find the right solutions."

The 'we hear you' campaign and Optus 'O Team' will continue to be integrated into Optus' future marketing communications.

The M&C Saatchi creative team involved in the 'we hear you' campaign included Peter Currey - Group Head, Colin Jowell - Planner, Ben Welsh - Executive Creative Director, Paul Carpenter - Creative Group Head and Mark Timmins - Group Account Director.
