Optus SecureCam keeps your home or office in safe hands

Optus has launched Optus SecureCam, a live video monitoring solution allowing Small and Medium Business and Consumer 3G mobile customers to effectively monitor their home or office.

Around-the-clock access to video footage from private IP cameras* on compatible 3G mobile handsets or over the internet offers customers a convenient and cost effective video monitoring system.

Phil McDermott, Head of Product Marketing, Optus Small and Medium Business said, "Many customers, especially small business operators, have found traditional security systems to be costly or difficult to set up.

"Optus SecureCam is easy to install and offers customers the ultimate in video monitoring with real time viewing of their home or office.

"Customers can receive SMS or email notification after motion has been detected by their Optus SecureCam, with live video footage of the monitored areas then accessible over the internet via a 3G compatible mobile phone or PC," Mr McDermott said.

The Optus SecureCam is available to 3G mobile Post-Paid customers. The Post-Paid mobile package includes:

  • Live video and archived video via compatible mobile handsets and the internet
  • View multiple cameras on a single screen view via mobile/PC
  • Control of the camera's position via mobile/PC
  • An easy to use Wireless IP camera
  • Access to both your private IP camera and public webcams
  • Rapid response of events, customers are alerted shortly after motion is detected via SMS or email alerts (optional).

Optus 3G mobile Post-Paid customers can pay for the Wireless IP Camera upfront or over 12 or 24 months as instalments. Customers will require a compatible 3G mobile handset to view live footage and must also be within Optus 3G/HSPA coverage areas.

*All subscribers to Optus SecureCam must comply with all relevant State and Territory video and surveillance laws in relation to their use of Optus SecureCam. It is your responsibility to ensure you use Optus SecureCam legally.

  • Customers who use Optus SecureCam will need to have a voice rate plan and data plan for video traffic.
  • Key pricing for Post-Paid 3G mobile customers:
    - IP Camera starts at $15 per month per camera on a 24 month contract
    - Monthly service fee of $7.95 per month per application subscriber
    - Small and Medium Business Data plan is $19.99 for 1GB per month OR Consumer Data plan is $14.95 for 200MB per month
    - Plus the customer's choice of voice plan
  • Carriage of the video feeds equates to approximately 1MB per minute.
