Even more homes switched on
Optus announced today an evolution of its wireless product suite with the launch of Optus Wireless 'yes' Fusion, offering more customers across Australia affordable broadband and telephony.
Optus Wireless 'yes' Fusion (OWF) delivers home phone and internet via the Optus Mobile 3G network and allows customers to make and receive calls with their home phone handset, via a modem connected to the mobile network, at fixed line rates.
"Launching OWF uses the strength of our mobile network to deliver broadband and telephone services to new areas that were previously dominated by the incumbent, delivering on our proposition of choice and true value," Warren Hardy, Optus Consumer Managing Director said.
"Australians want a wireless provider that makes life simple, with easy to install products that are affordable. This product shows we have listened and delivered again.
"Customers who have previously not been able to access our popular Fusion product, can now access the Wireless version with OWF available to more homes," Mr Hardy said.
OWF offers unlimited standard local and national calls as well as calls to Optus GSM mobiles, free Internet Security Suite and 2GB broadband data for $79 a month. Customers in an Optus 3G mobile coverage area simply connect their standard home phone handset and PC to the Optus InZone modem to start surfing or talking.
"This new product aligns with our strategy to focus on growing our customer base and investing in our network to optimise services for users. The launch of OWF shows that not only are we continually expanding our Optus Mobile 3G network, we are releasing products that bring innovation and convenience to users," Mr Hardy said.
Note to Editor:
- The OWF InZone modem device is powered by mains power. The service may not be suitable for you if: you require disability services, you have a back to base home alarm system, or you require an uninterrupted telephone line. Optus is the only long distance provider available on this service. You will not be able to select another carrier for your National, International and calls to mobile. The ACMA Customer Service Guarantee does not apply to this service.
- OWF is available to Small Medium Business customers - all customers should consult the full range of plans before making a decision on the one best suited to their needs.
- Currently customers (not on a Fusion plan) or prospects in our fixed line coverage area who sign up to any 'yes' Fusion plan for 24 months before 6 September 2008, will save $40 on their monthly access fee for 6 months - a saving of $240.
