Tamarama launch new album by letting 'You Choose
10 Feb 2010

Optus has today re-launched their YouTube channel www.youtube.com/optusyouchoose as part of an interactive social media campaign that celebrates choice.

Fronted by home-grown talent, Jay Lyon and Nicholas Potts (AKA Pottsy) from the band Tamarama, the Optus YouTube channel will help members of the public solve each others dilemmas in order to interact with each other in a unique way, and win fantastic prizes.

The YouTube concept invites the general public to comment on the posted videos - offering advice to others' conundrums such as a hairstyle or dating dilemma. Optus invites anyone to upload their own dilemma - be it big or small, dramatic or irrelevant - and ask for advice from the wider community. Tamarama have come on board to launch this campaign with a dilemma asking members of the YouTube community to help them select a creative direction.

Michael Smith, Managing Director, Optus Consumer said, "The Optus YouTube channel offers a quirky take on choice, engages and empowers young adults in the social media space, and allows them to create their own content."

Jay Lyon of Tamarama said of his dilemma, "It's all about the fans and public so for them to vote for what they want means we are delivering an album that is made and chosen by the people that matter!"

Other contributors to the launch of the project include social media expert Seamus Byrne who posts a dilemma about gaming, and trends commentator Gemma Crisp who explores a dilemma relating to the cringe clubs from New York.

There is an added incentive for YouTubers to become actively involved. By uploading their own dilemma and decision videos, they automatically qualify for the chance to win a $10,000 holiday package. And in a further celebration of choice the winner will be able to choose between an all expenses paid party for two in Fiji OR around the world flights for two.
